Why Choose Shrimp?

Shrimp is probably one of the most popular seafood options available. Even your pickiest guest probably likes shrimp. Shrimp is also a lower priced seafood which makes it a great option.

Whats your favorite flavor profile?

There are so many options here. For this one I wanted a grilled shrimp that will wow your guests. This one is perfect because it does have a little heat from the rub, but also has a great citrus finish.

The Prep

You will want to make sure that you start with a larger size shrimp. This keep the finished grilled shrimp from shrinking too small and it will create a great presentation.

  • Thaw and de-shell the shrimp. I like to keep the end of the tail shell on to prevent curling.

  • Add some olive oil to the shrimp and toss.

  • Add your favorite rub to coat the shrimp.

  • Squeeze some fresh oranges to add the citrus flavor. Make sure that you mix thoroughly.

Let the shrimp marinade for at least an hour.

The Cook

I used a cast iron griddle but your can use a cast iron pan, or a skewer and cook right on the grill grates.

  • Preheat your grill to 350 Degrees F

  • I like to use some bacon grease to coat the cast iron before I place the shrimp on the griddle. This gives it a nice sear and adds a great flavor.

Grill the shrimp for a few minutes and then flip.

When is the shrimp done?

You can tell when the shrimp are ready to pull off the grill when the internal temperature is 165 degrees F. Visually you can see when the tail almost touches the shrimp body. The body of the shrimp will be opaque.
